With that in mind I've thought about making a image file of a typical badly-fragmented Windows installation, then I could write that to the disk and defrag it, to simulate heavy head travel. I set the number of rounds to a high number to make sure the tests continue for days.Ī slight problem with DBAN for this purpose is that it only does long linear writes, so something that excercises the head travel more (for example, a defragmenter working on a typical NTFS volume) would also test the head travel better. Jeff Lowe and his wife Lauren are prominent figures in the second series (Photo: Netflix) Like much of the show, it’s exploitative and difficult to watch. The show spends an inordinate amount of time investigating the claim that Baskin – who doesn’t appear and attempted to sue Netflix for the use of her image – is a murderer, culminating in a scene in which Lewis’s grieving children call upon a “psychic investigator” to locate their father’s last location. ![]() Only those who are still obsessed with Exotic will enjoy this second series, though there’s not much new here for them to learn. The original was such a success that the tale of Joe Exotic, his incarceration, his legal battle and the fate of his park was splashed across the news and social media in real-time. In making a sequel, Goode and Chaiklin have hit a major roadblock – they’re covering old ground. Directionless and confused, the story zips from Exotic’s plight (he’s currently serving a 22-year sentence in prison for animal abuse and attempted murder for hire) to the conspiracy theory that his nemesis Baskin allegedly murdered her ex-husband, Don Lewis. The new five-episode series, Tiger King 2, is a mess. Necessary? Absolutely not, but when has that ever stopped the streaming service from making a quick buck? Whatever the reason, the show was such a phenomenon that it was only a matter of time before Netflix called upon filmmakers Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin to deliver another instalment. Or maybe it was the fact we were all locked in our houses and needed distracting from the threat of the deadly virus sweeping across the planet. Perhaps it was the outrageous, twisting case at the series’ centre, perhaps it was the marvel of Exotic himself – a self-declared “gay hillbilly” whose ego knows no bounds. It’s hard to pin down exactly why Tiger King – the Netflix documentary telling the story of Joe Exotic and his plan to murder rival Carole Baskin – captured the world’s attention when it premiered in March of last year. ![]() |
